Location
To find us, take Junction 9 off the N4 (Dublin to Sligo Road) heading towards the town centre. Turn right at Westmeath Motors, then first left into cul de sac we are the last red brick hourse on the right hand side. Close to the Park Hotel in Mullingar.
Mullingar is a market town with a rich heritage dating back to Norman times. Its imposing Renaissance style Cathedral, with its 140 feet high twin spires, dominates the townscape. The Ecclesiastical museum has an interesting collection dating back to Penal times, during which the catholic religion was suppressed.
The county of Westmeath contains some delightful scenery including a number of lakes with wooded shores and rolling hills, providing many charming views. Ancient historical legends include that of Lough Derravaragh, situated to the north of the county and is famous as the first of the three lakes on which the legendary children of Lir spent 300 years.
Lakes within easy reach of Mullingar include Lough Ennell, Lough Sheelin, Lough Owl (All have boat hire available) and Lough Sheever. The Royal Canal is also close by. All offer good coarse fishing, pike and trout. (Fishing tackle and bait shop in the town centre)
